Meet Our Principal
Ms. Linda Morgan
Let’s welcome Bella Vista Elementary School’s new principal, Ms. Linda Morgan! Ms. Morgan brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for education to the Bella Vista community. Her career journey in education began in the Oakland Unified School District, where she served as a teacher and administrator for over 20 years. We are thrilled to have her re-joining OUSD to be a part of its administrative team!
Ms. Morgan’s relationship with the Oakland Unified School District is extensive, starting with her attendance at Bella Vista Elementary School as a young child. Ms. Morgan graduated from OUSD’s Far West High School, and then left Oakland temporarily to study Literature/Creative Writing at the University of California at Santa Cruz. Later, she pursued a teaching credential at Patten University and began her teaching career at Glenview Elementary School, spending 16 years as a teacher and TSA. Her experience as a TSA led to her pursuit of an administrative credential through Reach and the New Leaders Program.
Ms. Morgan served as Vice Principal at CUES/Futures at Lockwood for three years before joining the administrative team at Berkeley Unified in the early months of the pandemic, as Vice Principal of Malcolm X Elementary School and as Vice Principal of the Early Childhood Education program.
She is resuming her educational career in the Oakland Unified School district, after spending four years in Berkeley. Through her tenure at BUSD, she continued to hold a torch for the Oakland Unified School District, and considers this return “coming home.”
Ms. Morgan is a firm believer that knowledge is power, and she is dedicated to empowering our students to become self-actualized individuals. Her commitment to equitable outcomes for all students, coupled with a strong elementary curriculum background, particularly in the area of literacy, makes her a valuable addition to our team. She has served as an instructional coach, new teacher mentor, and an early childhood director of Berkeley Preschools, all with the aim of supporting student success and well-being, in alignment with our school and district values.
Ms. Morgan brings an infectious enthusiasm to her work. She champions SEL practices to support all children and their families. Additionally, Ms. Morgan values relationship building among students, staff and families, and wants each student to feel welcome, loved and connected to their school community.
Welcome home, Principal Morgan!
